Wedding Table Runner Size Chart and Tablecloth Calculator

Published Oct 27, 2026

On a 30-inch-high table, a floor-length cloth is 120 inches round for a 60-inch round table, 132 for a 72-inch round, 90 × 132 for a 6-foot banquet table and 90 × 156 for an 8-foot one. A table runner is the table’s length plus twice the overhang, so 12 inches at each end means 84 inches on a 60-inch round, 96 on a 6-foot banquet table and 120 on an 8-foot one. The calculator below does this for every table at once and adds up the cheesecloth yardage for the runners.

Tablecloth size chart for wedding tables

A round cloth is the table diameter plus twice the drop. A rectangular cloth adds twice the drop to both the width and the length. On a 30-inch-high table, floor length is a 30-inch drop.

Table 8 in drop 15 in drop Floor length (30 in drop)
60 in round 76 in round 90 in round 120 in round
72 in round 88 in round 102 in round 132 in round
6 ft banquet (72 × 30 in) 46 × 88 in 60 × 102 in 90 × 132 in
8 ft banquet (96 × 30 in) 46 × 112 in 60 × 126 in 90 × 156 in

These are calculated sizes for an even drop, not a list of sizes every supplier stocks. The four floor-length sizes match Hill Country Event Rentals’ linen guide.

Stock cloths can give different drops at the sides and ends. A Classic Party Rental lists a 60 × 120-inch cloth as a halfway drop for both its 6-foot table and its 8-foot table. On the 6-foot table that leaves 24 inches hanging at each end, on the 8-foot table only 12, and 15 inches along the sides of both.

Runner length is the table’s length (or a round table’s diameter) plus twice the overhang. The chart assumes a straight, centered runner; gathering fabric on the tabletop uses extra length.

Table 6 in overhang 12 in overhang 18 in overhang
60 in round 72 in 84 in 96 in
72 in round 84 in 96 in 108 in
6 ft banquet 84 in 96 in 108 in
8 ft banquet 108 in 120 in 132 in

Premier Table Linens’ sizing guide lists 13-inch-wide runners at 84 inches (12 in overhang) and 108 inches (24 in) for 60-inch rounds, 90 inches (9 in) and 108 inches (18 in) for 6-foot banquet tables, and 120 inches (12 in) for 8-foot tables.

To keep the runner from hanging below the tablecloth, choose an overhang no longer than the cloth’s drop. An overhang longer than the table height reaches onto the floor. The calculator flags both limits.

How many yards of cheesecloth for the runners

For the same tables and runner lengths, a narrower runner can halve the fabric you need. On 36-inch-wide cheesecloth, a 35-inch finished runner with a half-inch hem allowance at each edge uses the full width. A 13-inch finished runner needs a 14-inch-wide strip, so two fit side by side.

Take a hypothetical wedding with ten 60-inch round tables and an 84-inch runner on each. The hem allowance at both ends makes each runner 85 inches to cut.

  • Full-width runners, 35 inches wide: ten cuts of 85 inches is 850 inches, or 23.6 yards. With 10% extra for mistakes, buy 26 yards.
  • 13-inch runners, cut 14 inches wide: two fit across the 36 inches, so five cuts is 425 inches, or 11.8 yards. With 10% extra, buy 13 yards.

An odd number of runners still rounds up, so seven 13-inch runners take four cuts. Runners of the same length are cut side by side, and runners of different lengths are counted as separate cuts.

As of October 27, 2026, Uline lists 36-inch-wide grade 50 cheesecloth at $55 per 70-yard box, about $0.79 a yard. At that rounded rate, the examples use $20.54 and $10.27 of fabric, respectively. Buying either quantity from that listing still means paying $55 for a full box, before shipping and tax. Replace the calculator’s price with your supplier’s rate and account for any minimum purchase.

The hem allowance and the 10% are our assumptions, not standards. A quarter-inch double-fold hem uses half an inch per edge. Change either one if you hem differently or want a bigger cushion.

Check your own tables before you order
